Green Steel Certification

PGS Energy Services Pvt. Ltd. is empanelled with the National Institute of Secondary Steel Technology (NISST) to carry out Green Steel Certification Audits and Measurement, Reporting & Verification (MRV) Audits. As per the NISST framework, “Green Steel” is defined by the percentage greenness of steel, based on CO₂ equivalent emission intensity being lower than 2.2 t-CO₂e per tonne of finished steel (tfs). The greenness percentage reflects how much a plant’s emissions are reduced compared to this threshold. Steel is then rated on a star-rating scale:
Any steel with emission intensity higher than 2.2 t-CO₂e/tfs is not eligible for certification. The certification scope covers Scope 1, Scope 2, and limited Scope 3 emissions, up to the finished steel stage. Through our empanelment with NISST, we help steel plants undergo accurate audits and obtain official Greenness Certificates and Star Ratings.
